These Novelty Knits Will Be Your Favorite Sweaters This Season

Is there another garment as ubiquitous yet hard to find the perfect match for as the sweater? It might be due to the never-ending list of options, or that every person has such specific preferences, or the blanket-like comfort that we’re constantly chasing (in other people and our knitwear decisions). Everyone needs a sweater and everyone has their own opinion on which one. We’re flipping the strategy this season and testing the theory that maybe we’re just looking in the wrong places for the wrong things when it comes to that one sweater that’s going to finally put an end to sweater shopping for the season. I call those my “sweaters of the season,” and luckily for me (and my bank account) I found mine early on and proceeded to wear it for two weeks straight, letting it collect lint and experimenting with every styling iteration possible.

How to Wear an Evening Dress for Any Occasion

Evening dresses are the indulgent, fussy, fancy aunt of fashion. They’re not the “investment piece that you’ll wear over and over again” or the “statement clothing that ends up surprising you with its versatility.” Many times an evening dress is purchased with the intention and knowledge that you won’t be wearing it often, but the fleeting moments you do wear it are worth it. If an expensive evening dress is the price you pay to live out a fantastical moment where you feel 100% in your own skin and can shed all feelings of self-consciousness and doubt, isn’t it worth it? Versatility isn’t the point here; the staying power of an evening dress that makes you feel, simply put, good, is just as worth it as a pair of easy-to-wear black trousers.

Warm Makeup for Defrosting: Eyeshadow, Blush & More

Winter might be filled with bone-chilling breezes and frosty temperatures, but we’re here to argue that those teeth-chattering moments make for the perfect makeup inspiration. While we’re ready to defrost and shed the layers for spring, we’re also emerging with warm makeup looks. Meaning the flushed, rosy cheeks that come with defrosting after a cold day.

Here’s How to Do Party Makeup Looks in a Whole New Way

We’re year-round party people, but there are certain seasons (holidays, prom, birthdays) that kick our party mood into overdrive, which in turn inspires us to take our party makeup looks to the next level as well. This year, we’re making the case for stickers in lieu of your usual glitter explosion. In the past, we found ourselves regretfully attempting to remove face glitter with a mountain of makeup wipes (only to realize the morning after that the attempts were futile and glitter is still everywhere). We’re not swearing off glitter forever, just transferring the energy spent fussing over makeup to fussing over small-talk topics that aren't the weather, amongst other things. Stickers are the ultimate solution for when you’re feeling all tuckered out from festivities but still want to flex your creative party-makeup muscles.

6 Gloves That Will Give You All The ASMR Tingles

One of my happiest childhood memories was watching, mesmerized on my living room floor, Michael Jackson’s rhinestone encrusted glove moving across the screen as he performed "Billie Jean" live. I, like many, recreated the moment myself – using one yellow gardening glove found in my dad’s cherry tomato patch. The iconic glove was ASMR before ASMR was thing. The single glove, covered in rhinestones, caught the light and dazzled as it glided across the stage, leaving me with stars in my eyes and sparkly sensations in my tummy.

But can’t an accessory be just an accessory? Gloves are inherently innocent items, designed simply to protect your hands from the elements, yet they’re often misconstrued and misinterpreted. See: the uproar over Amal Clooney’s simple white gloves at the Golden Globes and the speculation around why Jackson only wore one glove.

This Fall, We're Clashing Our Colors with Reckless Abandon

Our “favorite” colors are in constant flux as our moods and aesthetics evolve. In our younger years, they changed almost every week, actually every few minutes, depending on how we were feeling, what color T-shirt Lizzie McGuire was wearing, or what our best friend said her favorite color was at the moment. When a color was deemed a favorite, a full-on immersion happened — exclusively eating blue-food-colored cake for your birthday, writing all notes on pink paper with a pink pen, attempting to make everything in your room green. I stubbornly used only orange crayons during one semester of art class which resulted in inaccurately warm-toned mountains and orange-faced polar bears. It may have meant that we were indecisive, but more likely that we were learning, growing, and experimenting with our taste. While our “intensive study” of color has subsided and favorites have evolved into a series of preferences, the pure joy and happiness that color provides is still comparable to that time we perfectly color-coordinated our baby blue outfit to our nails.
